Wilder Gardens

Garden with small pond, gravel pathway, and surrounding greenery

Our ambition is to create and connect wildlife habitats in every garden in the UK.

The UK has an estimated 433,000 hectares of gardens, which is only 1.74% of the total land. However, this area is over twice the size of all the national nature reserves, and most importantly, it is accessible, and controlled, by all of us. We’ll show how changing a small corner of the garden connects to local habitats, which in turn impact regionally, nationally and globally.

We watch and marvel as migratory birds supported by plants and insects in our gardens connect us to sub-saharan Africa or North America. It is this knowledge that inspires us to do whatever we can.

Lush garden with dense foliage, yellow irises, pink flowers, ferns, and a small pond covered with duckweed.

Coming Spring 2025

We’re extending our existing garden matching platform to provide access to hyper local maps, data and actions that will enable you to connect with neighbours in you community to support your local nature recovery strategy.

Together we can create a National Wildlife Garden Network.
